Dangerous Borax trend is DRAGGING bone-building boron down with it
Don’t throw the boron out with the Borax [FAKE NEWS alert!]
Kids these days, am I right?
It’s a miracle they can make it past their teenage years… with all the CRAZY stunts they pull.
I mean, just look at the “challenges” they take on – ranging from STUPID human tricks to DANGEROUS dares.
I don’t know about you… but all I did as a kid was ride a bike without a helmet and drive a car without a seatbelt on!
But thanks to one of the latest “trends” that’s taking over the internet, officials are issuing a DIRE WARNING…
And it has to do with a tried-and-true household product that’s been around for CENTURIES.
I’m talking about Borax.
You might’ve seen a box of it in your parents’ or grandparents’ laundry room… or under the sink…
But it probably NEVER occurred to you to EAT that white, powdery substance.
Take today’s dimwits, though… and combine them with the idiocy of social media… and you’ve got a recipe for potential DISASTER.
This really gets my goat… because there’s a RELATED compound that actually offers some pretty IMPRESSIVE health benefits…
But it’s getting SWEPT UP in this latest controversy over Borax.
Here’s the Borax trend you should STAY AWAY from… and why you shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to boron.
See, Borax is an industrial chemical… and it’s NOT edible. In fact, it could POISON you if you ingest it!
But that hasn’t stopped nincompoops on TikTok from encouraging folks to DRINK the stuff.
They say that it could help BANISH inflammation… or EASE joint pain…
But they’ve got it wrong.
Because Borax contains a combination of the naturally-occurring element boron… PLUS sodium and oxygen.
And what ACTUALLY offers health benefits is just plain ol’ boron – a micronutrient that could use a little GOOD publicity, as it’s been MISUNDERSTOOD for decades.
Experts call this trace mineral “non-essential”… but that DOESN’T mean you don’t need it at all.
Research shows that taking boron supplements could help EXTINGUISH inflammation…
And help your body USE calcium to keep bones strong.
But that’s not all…
Because boron also helps GROW new bone -- in a process called “tissue mineralization.”
Unfortunately, the amount of boron we get naturally in the foods we eat… like leafy greens, apples, and beans… isn’t always enough to MAXIMIZE its potential.
That’s where boron supplements come in.
If you’d like to try them for yourself, skip the laundry detergent aisle…
And head straight to the health food store to look for the most bioavailable version of boron, called calcium fructoborate. It comes in capsule form… often containing just 3 mg apiece.
According to a 2020 meta-analysis out of Italy, you probably don’t need more than one or two of those a day… which is considered a safe level.
But check with your doc to make sure it’s OK for you to try.
