Diuretic drugs for hypertension linked to new-onset diabetes

January 18, 2024

Mainstream BP treatment could GIVE you diabetes!

It’s a double whammy NOBODY asked for.

You’re trying to keep your hypertension in check… and you’ve followed your doc’s EVERY instruction…

But then you get WALLOPED with yet another diagnosis.

Type 2 diabetes!

You THOUGHT you were getting your health on track…

But by artificially lowering your BP numbers using one of Big Pharma’s drugs your doc prescribed you…

Your BEST intentions have led to DEVASTATING circumstances.

Fortunately, there could be a way to BEAT BACK this glucose imbalance… and STILL rein in high blood pressure…

But first, here are the risks associated with a certain class of BP meds that you URGENTLY need to know about.

I’m talking about thiazide diuretics, a.k.a. “water pills.”

According to research, these BP-lowering drugs could not only result in WORSE glycemic control…

But could also actually lead to NEW cases of diabetes in folks with ZERO history of the disease…

And it could happen within as little as just a couple of months (although the longer you take the drugs, the higher your risk of developing the second disease).

Here’s the kicker…

While STOPPING the drug could REVERSE the secondary diabetes…

The mainstream DOESN’T want you to do that.

They CLAIM that the benefits of taking thiazide diuretics OUTWEIGH the risks…

But what I’m reading BETWEEN THE LINES is that they see an opportunity to convert a patient into a repeat customer…

And get them on a glucose-lowering drug ON TOP OF that BP med!

What a sick scheme.

Now for the good news.

A recent study shows it’s possible to REVERSE that drug-induced hyperglycemia… and NOT by taking another drug.

The authors looked into a combination of 3 ingredients:

  1. potassium, which diuretics (a.k.a. “potassium-wasting” drugs) tend to deplete
  2. magnesium, which can also be reduced when taking those drugs
  3. citrate, a.k.a. citric acid.

This study is part of the research that’s going into making a patented ingredient, called KMgCit, available to the public…

So I’m a little suspicious… since there’s always a possibility of money-hungry scientists “cooking the books” just like Big Pharma does.

And they haven’t quite figured out what citrate is doing in this concoction… and whether all three of those ingredients are actually necessary to get the same results.

But there is plenty of research showing that both potassium and magnesium on their own could help with BP control…

And how TOO-LITTLE potassium is linked to low insulin… and how OPTIMAL magnesium levels could lead to BETTER insulin sensitivity.

So, feel free to chat with your doc about how you might get more of these nutrients… either through food or, if you’re actively lacking in them, supplements.

They may very well offer a two-fer when it comes to helping get you on the right track in terms of both BP and blood glucose levels.

Just keep in mind that NOT all forms of magnesium were created equal. Take the WRONG version… and you might find yourself experiencing some fairly UNPLEASANT side effects.

Most experts consider magnesium taurate to be the one that’s best for heart health and BALANCING blood pressure.
