Diabetes meds show reduction in gout flare-ups and mortality in diabetes patients

November 5, 2023

NIGHTMARE diabetes meds about to be pushed on gout sufferers?

If there’s one thing you can COUNT on when it comes to Big Pharma…

It’s how they won’t HESITATE to take a BAD drug… and find NEW ways to push it on MORE patients!

I’m sure you’ve heard of “off-label” uses for certain meds… which is when a doc prescribes a drug for a condition it wasn’t approved to treat.

That’s more of a “back door” method of BROADENING the distribution of certain pharmaceuticals…

But what most drug makers would probably prefer is to go through the front door… and simply to get their products GREENLIT to treat more diseases.

Because once the feds give the thumbs up to a drug for one health issue… it’s a lot easier for it to SAIL through the approvals process for subsequent issues.

I’m thinking that’s what’s going on with the latest news about a class of diabetes meds known as SGLT2 inhibitors.

Some of these have become BLOCKBUSTERS… despite carrying significant risks of HORRIFYING complications…

Like ketoacidosis… genital infections… and limb loss.

Now, remember that last risk when I tell you the latest health concern that’s getting attention related to SGLT2 inhibitors.

I’m talking about gout.

It comes as a result of excess uric acid in the blood… which causes crystals to form in the feet… especially in the big toe.

And that can cause CRIPPLING pain – the kind you wouldn’t wish on your WORST enemy.

In a recent study out of China, researchers claim that treating gout patients with SGLT2 inhibitors resulted in 19% fewer recurrent gout flares, compared to equivalent treatments (like diabetes meds glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists and dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitors).

As well, taking SGLT2 inhibitors resulted in 29% lower death from all causes.

Now, it’s true that gout sufferers have a 25% increased risk of early death compared to gout-free folks…

And they’re sure to appreciate something that keeps them out of an early grave.

But my eagle eye spotted something in the research which made me a little suspicious of these findings…

Which is that MULTIPLE authors of this study are on payroll at Big Pharma companies… including those that manufacture SGLT2 inhibitors, like AstraZeneca.

It’s also important to note that the subjects in the study all had CONCURRENT gout with type 2 diabetes…

And it’s unclear whether taking these diabetes meds would have similar benefits for non-diabetics with gout.

If gout flare-ups leave you limping in agony, make sure you’re drinking LOTS of water… and paying attention to certain nutritional triggers.

Foods rich in purines… like game meats, organ meats, and beef… tend to send your uric acid levels SOARING. So, it’s best to avoid them.

And before you RESORT to taking a DANGEROUS drug… even one that’s already been APPROVED for gout…

Consider time-tested and scientifically-backed natural therapies, like tart cherry juice.
